Biographie Le Paon Atypique (Jean-Baptiste VALIENTE) :

Originaire des Pyrénées Atlantiques, résidant à l’île de la Réunion depuis près de 7 ans, j’exerce la photographie depuis maintenant deux années.

Initialement psychiatre de profession, mon attrait pour la photographie s’est progressivement développé au cours de mes études avec une attention particulière pour la photographie humaniste mais aussi le photojournalisme de Raymond Depardon (notamment pour son travail en santé mentale). Ce gout prononcé pour l’image s’est conforté avec les œuvres de Gilbert Garcin où l’onirique et la poésie l’emportent sur la détresse de la condition humaine.

Mes réalisations se sont construites en miroir d’un quotidien où se mêlent sans cesse interrogations triviales et existentielles. Ainsi les angoisses mortifères et les tentatives d’échappement par le divertissement se partagent une scène aux couleurs souvent légères.

Très jeune dans mon expérience photographique malgré mes 35 ans je me découvre un appétit insatiable pour la construction de scénettes minimalistes photographiques où la drôlerie, la rêverie et la gravité trouvent une entente passagère.

Biography The rocky Peacock (jean-Baptiste VALIENTE) :

I was born in the south west of France and I’m living in reunion island since nearly 7 years. I’ve been doing photography for two years now. I’m doctor in psychiatry and my attraction for photography gradually developed during my studies with a particular attention to humanist photography but also the photojournalism of Raymond Depardon (especially for his work in mental health).

This love for Images was reinforced with the works of Gilbert Garcin where dreamlike and poetry prevail over the distress of the human condition.

My creations have been built as a mirror of a daily life where trivial and existential questions are constantly mixed. Thus the deadly anxieties and the attempts of escape by funny things share a scene with often light colors.

Very young in my photographic experience despite my 35 years. I discover an insatiable appetite for the construction of minimalist photographic scenes where fun, dream and gravity find a temporary agreement.
